Spring Into Strength

Group class on the studio floor

Hello LCPP Family,

♥ MEMBER SPOTLIGHT♥

Today we’re excited to highlight Alicia McKean. Alicia has been coming to LCPP for several years and is being highlighted for her achievements made during our February Push-Up Challenge.

She began the month the way we all did. Not strong enough to do one pull push-up to the floor. By the end of February, she is now doing 15 real push-ups! We want to commend her on that progress and give a big high five to smashing your target goal of 11 and pushing past it by 4 additional push ups! Way to go Alicia!!!

When Alicia isn’t in the Studio she’s a busy homemaker caring for her two sons and husband. She loves all things fitness and nutrition related and always has a big smile, contagious attitude, and stellar workout outfits. Thank you for choosing us to share your fitness journey with!

March is here, and with a new time change comes the familiar feeling of spring renewal and fresh beginnings. Are you ready to move a little lighter, stand a little taller and feel stronger?

Snake & Twist on the Reformer

Our focus this month is dialing in on overall strength that supports your whole life. Whether your brand new to exercise, building momentum (our February push up challenge kicked the year off), or finding your fitness journey again after some time away. Pilates is a powerful way to reset your body and reconnect to how good mindful movement makes us feel.
It improves your mind body connection by tuning in while while moving, not zoning out. Every movement has intention. This is why people who stay consistent with Pilates doesn’t just look different, they move differently! Classical Pilates is a system designed to support our bodies, build strength, have better control over our muscles and breath. The controlled movement & Breath together tells the nervous system it’s safe. Less stress = Better recovery and energy! It’s about finding clarity, calmness, focus and confidence.
Unlike other workouts Pilates builds muscle without overstimulation. You get strong without spiking stress hormones. It supports the nervous system regulation, which can improve your focus, sleep, mood and overall wellbeing. Additionally here are other Benefits of Consistent Pilates Practice:

  • Staying Physically Active is Good for Your Mental Health; Getting your body moving is a sure way to produce endorphins. Endorphins are peptide hormones that are natural pain relievers and mood boosters produced by the brain.

  • Pilates can help with Depression and Anxiety. Studies have shown that Pilates can be effective in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.

  • Helps Improve Sleep. Regular exercise helps the body find it’s natural rhythm of energy expended that normally makes you to feel tired at the end of the day.

  • Pilates Can Be a Mood Booster. Mindful movement will make you feel good about yourself and your body, which can lead to improved self esteem and confidence.

  • Improves Energy. This is likely due to boosted blood flow & circulation throughout the body which improves oxygenation.

  • Pilates Improves Motivation. The sense of accomplishment after completing a rigorous class can help stimulate motivation in other areas of life.

  • Pilates can improve your social life. Pilates classes can be a great way to meet new people and accomplish connection to a new community of like minded people, reducing feelings of isolation. Studies prove that who you surround yourself with influences your life; Your habits and your social circle matter! Building discipline, health and success is easier when your surrounded with the right people inspiring you in life.
