Are you looking for a great stretch for your hamstrings? Maybe you did a nice workout at the gym – whether on your own or in a group fitness class setting – and you just need a little more stretching. We do this particular hamstring stretch in my Pilates studio during a Pilates mat class or after a challenging Pilates Apparatus workout. It’s one of my favorites!

So, here’s how you can perform this stretch at home! First, let’s begin by limbering. Place both hands and hold underneath your knee. Now, lift and lower 3x.

Let’s advance the stretch by adding a big, steady extension to the front of the body. Place one hand on your toes and the other hand back behind you to stay stable. Gently lean back.

Now, let’s stretch the inner thigh. Place your hand on the inside arch and the other hand back behind you again. Stretch the leg out to the side.

Lastly, take the same leg across the body and switch the hand on top of the foot. Try to extend the opposite hand behind you and look over your shoulder.
